I am on a TN1 Visa and have given my resignation. I will be returning to Canada next week but I do not know where to return my I-94 Form?

Answer:

As a TN1 visa holder, you are required to return your Form I-94 to the US Immigration upon departure. The most convenient way to do this is to give it to the airline check-in agent when you check in for your flight back to Canada. However, if you forget to do this, you can also mail it in.

To mail your Form I-94, please send it to the following address:

Coleman Data Solutions

Box 7965

Akron, OH 44306

Attn: NIDPS (I-94)

USA

(If using U.S. Postal Service)

OR

Coleman Data Solutions

3043 Sanitarium Road, Suite 2

Akron, OH  44312

Attn: NIDPS (I-94)

(If using FedEx or UPS)

Please be sure to include your full name, date of birth, and I-94 number on the envelope.

Additional information:

  • If you’re leaving the U.S. by land, you can surrender your Form I-94 to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer at the exit port.
  • If you’re a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) traveler, you don’t need to return a paper Form I-94. Your departure will be recorded electronically when you leave the U.S

Additional Tips:

  • It is advisable to consult with an immigration lawyer before departure to ensure that all immigration requirements and procedures are appropriately addressed.
  • It’s a good practice to check your I-94 record online at the CBP website before you leave the U.S. to ensure it’s accurate and up-to-date.
  • If you’re mailing your Form I-94, use certified mail with return receipt requested to have proof that it was received.
  • Keep a copy of your Form I-94 for your personal records.
